I'm currently saving some money to eventually buy/ build another AR-15 rifle and I'm wondering if Del-Ton's assembled rifles are any good.

I've done some reading and noted a few problems with Del-Ton's, as well as multiple other brands.     I also know that people are far more likely to bitch about problems than they are to talk about products that function normally without any problems.

So here's the deal... if you own a Del-Ton complete rifle, or a Del-Ton rifle kit, please post your experience either good or bad.

I have no experience with their complete rifles but have used a couple of their barrels, LPK's and lowers and I have had no issues with any of it.

Some people have had issues with some Del-Ton stuff but people have had issues with most manufacturers at one point or another for one thing or another .. I think what makes a company really good is how they handle those problems and from what I've seen Del-Ton has handled themselves pretty well when dealing with customers problems. YMMV

Good to know, thanks for the info!    I know that all companies will eventually produce a lemon, thats just the way it goes.      I'll monitor this thread to see how their quality measures up.

What made you decide on DTI? Why not Spikes Tactical?

No real reason for not choosing Spikes other than Del-Ton's seem to be priced a bit lower than Spikes when comparing the same options.    Not sure if lower price = lower quality with Del Ton though.    If peoples experiences with Del-Ton shows diminished quality due to lower prices, I will most certainly consider a Spikes or possibly a YHM rifle.

Tough to beat Spikes feature for feature (according to "the chart") when your ARFCOM discount is figured in. I'm not suggesting your only criteria be the chart.

I have built a couple of del-ton rifles. Both have been great with no issues. Both have chrome lined barrels but a lot of the del-tons I have seen offered for sale are chrome moly. I personally think it's worth it to spend a little extra for the chrome chamber and barrel. Right now CDNN has a screaming deal on S&W m4 carbines. They are chrome lined with a detachable carry handle for $699 after rebate. These will have a lifetime warranty too. That price would be hard to beat even at del-ton.  Mark

I've played with a couple of their full rifles. I never saw anything that would keep me from buying one. They all seemed to be put together just fine.

If you are looking at a complete AR it is really hard to beat the deal Spikes is offering or the S&W deal at CDNN. Not sure why someone would choose a lower quality AR over one of these for about the same $$$

I just built up a DTI lower that I picked up at a fun show. It's a really nice lower. The Spikes Tactical lower that I have is just a little nicer. Given the choice between a DTI upper or a Spikes Tactical upper, I'd be more inclined to choose the Spikes. But then that just me. I personally like used Colt and FN military surplus M16A1 and M16A2 uppers.

My son has a complete DTI carbine.  No issues with realiblity but he didn't do enough research before buying (just before the election) and his has a commerical reciever extentsion which he doesn't like.

Great info guys!    That deal for a S&W M4 at CDNN is a very good buy... looks like I need to save more $$$ faster.

I have a dti kit build on rra receiver. Over 5k rounds now and only 1 failure. Magazine related (stuck follower).

Will shoot .7-.8" groups with tuned ammo and proper control. I'm not that good all the time but my marine buddy did it almost a dozen times in a row.

You couldn't even pry it from my cold dead fingers.

I own a complete DTI 16" carbine. Have had it about 2 years now......with but one minor issue. The foreward assist rollpin tried to work itself out the bottom during an extended shooting session.

I drove it back in....and it has stayed in just fine.

My DTI eats steel cased ammo, brass ammo, commercial .223 ammo, accuracy is fine, reliability is perfect. Only thing to bitch about is the one rollpin issue.

Originaly....my intentions were to build my own AR. Shopped around a bit....and a complete DTI rifle was priced within $100 of what all my parts would cost. Being a lazy person....I just bought me an AR.

Well, it certainly sounds like those who own DTI rifles are pleased with them.   I'm a bit torn between a DTI and a Spikes rifle.

On a side note, does anybody know what percentage savings Spikes is offering to AR15.com members?
