No FMJ ammo, No mag over 10 rds. I don't know about 5.56 being allowed.

I've deer hunted with a garand in Missouri before, and a buddy of mine with an SKS. It was a few years ago, but I believe it required a five-round mag - or a mag blocked to only hold five rounds. Perhaps the round limit has changed, but I'm pretty sure that semi-auto is fine for deer season. Check the Hometown forum if you don't get a good answer in General Discussion - those guys will know instantly. |

15 year Missouri hunter now relegated to the east.
5 round mag. Can not use .223. .243 is as small as you can go. I have hunted with 7.62x39 and a 6.5 AR. |

The code says no full auto, no FMJ, no more than 11 round magazine, no rimfire. I've always been told that .223 is illegal but I can't find it anywhere in the code.

I was under the interpritation that as long as it was a centerfire round, it was legal.

Wrong!!! www.mdc.mo.gov/hunt/deer/deertuk/five.htm Any centerfire pistol, revolver or rifle using expanding bullets. and from Wildlife code of Missouri 3 CSR 10-7.431 (D) Prohibited, in use or possession: 2. Self-loading firearms with capacity of more than eleven cartridges in magazine and chamber combined. To sum up 1. Any centerfire cartridge with expanding bullet 2. No more than 10 in the mag and 1 in the chamber. (You will need a 10 round mag) Happy hunting.
