B-Square, to put it nicely, is PURE CRAP.

I like the way the bolts stick out like that.  It lets you know who built it.

Or how it has a split down the center of the side rails.

So? How much are they going for?

Remember, B-Square has a long tradition to keep
I think will be around $125 for the carbine version.

Now that's almost funny.  For $125 you can get a decent rail from YHM.  For a little more you could get MI.  Needless to say, that won't go on my hardware.  MJD

Yeah, but I bet plenty of Gun Show/Arm Chair Commandos will buy it.
Remember, for some commandos, "looks above function" is their motto

I wonder if it comes in "gloss purple" to match their high quality flat-top scope mounts?

Deal breaker right there.

Better out there for a little more money.

Thanks for your contempt. It speaks highly of you as a vendor.

B-Square has a very good distribution network with the major mail-order houses.
Crap? Yes, but the mail order houses don't know that.
They will buy up a bunch of them.
Un-knowing suckers will buy them from companies like CTD and Sportsmans Guide.
Eventually, word will get out and they will be available on close-out for $65.
Then even the cheap ARFCOM bastards will buy them.
What else do they put on their Model 1 uppers?

I don't know AR15barrels but unfortunately for you...he's right.  CTD and Sportsman's Guide aren't known for high quality.  Some of their stuff is ok and I've ordered from both of them but much of their stuff is crap.

I haven't seen anything from BSquare that was quality.  It'll work for awhile but quality....NO!!  I have the YHM and paid less for it than the BSquare lists for.  I'm very happy with it.

I had one of B-Square's flat top AR mounts that had the Colt rollmark on it, ooooohhhh!!

I got it for cheap from someone.

I sold it cheap to someone and let them know I was not a fan of the mount.

No more B-Square for me.

actually it does speak highly for him as a vendor, considering vendors have more hands on time with this stuff, wouldn't you like to hear what they have to say? Or should they all just clam up and let you waste you money?
Think before you post...

Does that mean that since I am a vendor that I can't voice a low opinion of other products if they happen to be crappy?
Is there some code of ethics requiring me to be politically correct?
Sorry, I don't play that game.
If something's crap, I'll say it's crap.
When customers want me to build with parts that are crap, I explain to them why those parts are crap and give other recommendations.
It's not like I came in here saying, oh that's crap, you have to buy product X from me, it's WAY better.
I don't build freefloat tubes so I don't have a dog in this fight.
Yes, I do sell freefloat tubes, but you did not see an advertisement from me did you?
I was just stating my opinion, but maybe opinions from guys that build barrels and uppers for a living are not wanted here.
Sorry, I'll shut my hole now.

Please open your hole and let me know which 4 railed forearm you think offers the biggest/best bang for the bucks.  I do value your opinion as I'm sure you see more in use than I ever will.  Personal experience does have value.

I'm thinking about putting on 4 railed forearm on my 2001 LEGP to add a vertical grip and some light but I'm not sure which ones work and which as POS.  Well, I knew B-Square is POS but not much more than that.

Your opinion will be greatly appreciated.

AR15barrels, I don't think he was being sarcastic.  It really does speak well of you as a vendor when you're willing to say, "product X sucks donkey balls" - many retailers, like CTD and Sportsman's Guide will describe anything they sell as the greatest thing since sliced bread, even if it's crap. (as you well know)

That thing looks like it will be pretty heavy.

Ok, here's the thing.
There are a bunch of armchair commandos on here that will tell you you absolutely need to own a Daniel Defense, Knights or LaRue handguard because of the way the forend tube attaches to the barrel nut with indexing pins and the anti-rotation features of the barrel nut.

I often get chastised when I recommend the YHM because YHM and others of the same design have an inherent problem.
The problem is that the forend tube is held by threads and no positive pin.
There is at least a $150 difference in price between YHM and the top-tier systems.
The reason I recommend YHM's is that I install a locking pin that locks the forend to the barrel nut.
The detractors are quick to point out that there is no positive lock between the barrel nut and reciever.
I'm working on that one...

So, get a YHM, but add your own locking screw after you install it.
It's quite easy.
Flip the upper upside down, drill a hole for an 8-32 setscrew all the way through the forend and into the barrel nut.
You should break through into the (un-used) gas tube hole at 6:00.
Now tap the hole and loctite a 1/4" long setscrew into the hole.
Your forend tube will never move unless you somehow twist the whole thing hard enough to break the barrel nut loose.
That's my opinon and I'm sticking to it.

Thank you for that post... I learned something new today
Now, what is your opinion on non-floating forearms?  Is Knight's RAS the only way to go or does YHM, MI, Surefire offer same bang for less bucks?

I have not personally installed any of the non-floating handguards.
That's such a simple thing that end users are doing it, no need for an armorer like me.
Most uppers I build from scratch have freefloat systems on them.
The uppers I sell from LMT or Rock River usually go out the door with standard handguards or freefloat tubes.
I'm not price competetive with all the suppliers that will sell you a non-floated quad-rail system you can install yourself, so I don't really deal with them.

I do know that you are good with Knights, Surefire or MI.
I have never played with a YHM (funny since I am a YHM dealer) so I won't comment as to wether they are on the same par as the other 3.
Stay away from the plastic ones like Fobus or First Samco.

Thank you.
I really do appreciate your insight and your opinion.
