Jesus. I've been banging and banging on these things and they don't seem to come out. I'm at the point where I just want to drill these suckers out and purchase new taper pins to push back in there. Bushmaster did a great job of securing these thinsg in there. Any suggestions anyone?

I hate to ask, but are you sure you are going in the right direction?

How supported is your barrel? any movement is going to absorb the blows a bunch.
I used two small 1x2" wooden blocks and had good success, but hearing the average
rants about these pins, I think I might be the exception to the rule!

You should have posted or read in the builder section, this topic comes up all the time. The below thread should help you out.

Bushmaster is a serious bastard when it comes to taper pins on the front sight base. I've broken a Starett steel punch on one and ended up cutting the front sight base completely away and still had to hammer the snot out of it to get the pin loose.

Check the Build section and the post by FALARAK for some hints (although none of those worked for me on mine). Some people report success either heating or freezing the front sight base.
