Through struggling with a stuck casing for over two months i found myself needing some new tools for my ar. One of these tools was a good armorers tool to take off my barrel nut, flash hider, and other things. I did some shopping online and found many options. I am no armorer so i decided i didnt need to get the most expensive one, but wanted decent quality. At first i liked the idea of paying $10-15 on one on amazon from NCstar. I know its crap, but i didnt think it would be that bad. After reading reviews of it not fitting on anything, either too big or too small, out of spec, inferior metal, etc, i decided it would be too much of a hassle to deal with it. I read good reviews on the DPMS wrench so i got it for around $36 shipped, which was still a better deal than around $45+shipping for the Smith Enterprises one. When i got it, the fit and finish looked good, gray powder coat, straight cuts etc. The barrel nut side worked like a charm. It scraped a little of the powder coat off, but thats fine with me as long as it works. I did however try the flash hider notch and it was way out of spec, i would say somewhere around 3/32" larger than my flash hider. I know its not my flash hider because before i put it on i used a wrench that fit snug for both the bushmaster a2 birdcage, and the vortex i put on. All in all, i almost think i could have gone the even cheaper route, and im pretty disappointed that the flash hider notch fits so poorly, but then again $36 shipped isnt all that bad. On a side note, the vendor i bought it from, american weapon systems, requires a 21yo signs for the package no matter what it is. This was a real pita because i couldnt have other people sign for it because they check id. I had to stay home all day to get it from ups.
