I have a RRA 1:9 twist barrel that started life as a 16" barrel.  A few months back I had it chopped back to 14.5" and permanently installed a Vortex to make up the difference.  Well, now I want to chop it down again, but this time to 11.5" to be used on my pistol lower.  My question is is it ok to chop down a 1:9 twist barrel to 11.5" or should I just leave it at 14.5"?

the only thing i see wrong with it would be the gas port size, but probably not.

check with adco firearms and see what they say.

but why not just buy a short barrel? would probably be cheaper since you have paid for the barrel and the work to be done already and will have to pay more for it to be done again.

Thanks for the reply.  I am chopping this one down because it is cheaper for me to get it cut, crowned and threaded than it would be to buy a good barrel with the gas block installed.  Plus, I have a POF 9" upper on the way, and will soon order 14.5" Noveske Afghan barrel, so I have no need for a 14.5" barrel anymore.  I figured 11.5" would be perfect.
