I'll take more pictures tomorrow. Wanted to get an idea when this was made. I'm thinking one of the last made in 85. Wasn't as cheap as the sporter 2 but still a good deal.

Stopped in a pawn shop and saw this. Wasn't wanting to spend the money but the guy took my offer of 1000. Didn't think they would go that low. I'll probably put the SP2 up for sale.

Couple of marks on this side.

That is sweet! I don't own any SP1's, but I would buy that.

On the right side of the receivers, can you get a better shot or two of the "mess" along the seam?  Perhaps separate the two halves and show us the inside edges of the receivers?

I only ask because in the one photo, it looks a lot like the black touch-up paint Colt used when they mucked up a roll pin installation or when they staked a castle nut.  I'm wondering if they scratched/filed/damaged something there and slopped on the paint to cover it.  I've seen several with smaller splotches, so I suppose it's entirely possible the rifle came that way from the factory.

Regardless, congrats on the buy.  You did good.

It's oil. The rifle was pretty dry when I got it. Bathed it in clp and did a poor job of wiping it off before the picture. I'll post another picture tonight.

Those last couple of retros really beefed up your collection. You oughta think about keeping the Sporter 2; it is a sound investment a will go up in value over time.

I'd a dropped a G on your new SP1 too. Nice find and purchase. Wish I had Pawn stores in my area to frequent.

Man that is sweet!
I wouldn't part with any of those...
I'd be done & be proud.
My 604 project keeps failing...can't find affordable flat delta or a pair of tri's that actually fit\match.
And that little short babe on the right ..I can't keep my eyes off of her!
Superior line-up OP!

You are not weak.  You can never have too many Sp1s.  I have five of them and wish I had five more.

Google up Indiana Army Surplus.  You have to call them for retro parts, not on their website, ask for Slim.

Alternatively, find a post by jhud and send him a message.
