I've had a number of 3X and 4X Colt carry handle scopes over the years.  They have all, to my recollection, been Japan made.  I just had one come in that sez made in USA on top under the Colt logo where there is usually a power listing. It has no cross hairs, but a tapered post from 12 O'clock to the middle of the field of view. The screws that hold it to the base have larger heads also.

Is anyone familiar with this piece?

What you have there is a very rare example of early Colt optics. Made in America by Kodack Optics. I have one in its original packaging and complete. They are worth over $500. Less than 500 were made. A must for any serious Colt collector.

Quick question. Where did you find yours? It took me 2 years of looking on the internet for mine.
