I have a chance to buy a Colt R6550 A2 Govt.  Never fired, a few handling marks.  Comes with tattered Green Label box, two manuals and two 5 round block Colt marked mags, plus sling and Blue Colt soft gun case.  The guy who has it got it from his Dad for a graduation gift.  He is asking $2500.00.  I did a search and can't find another one on line like it.  I know they are around, but just can't find anything right now.  Is this a bit much for it?

Thanks again.

Yes, that is extremely high for that Rifle. Particularly so with handling marks, no original factory accessory kit and a ratty old box. Does it have the bayonet lug or is it the R6550K with no lug? The K models were neutered and came with the Colt .22 kit

If your looking to shoot it, I would offer him $1500.00 for it. That is more than fair for that piece in the condition you describe. If his price is firm, walk away my friend. A pristine example will present itself eventually and for a much better price.

Best of luck....

I have a 6550 and paid $1800 for mine, unfired. Not a whole hell of a lot of them on the market. I'd think the panic might push them up a couple hundred but 2500 is high IMHO.
FL mold got to my stock set though and turned it weird colors . Keep your guns away from Florida!!!

Thank you for the input, it does have the bayonet lug, think he got it in the early 90's, has the AR15 A2 roll mark on the lower.  Think I will offer the $1500.00 and see how it goes.

Thanks again.

2500 is pure insanity

but it would be a sweet gun if you could get it for 1500 with all that stuff with it

Buy a new one for at least $1000 less.
Colt 6520's are arguably the most underrated rifles in existance

They were selling for 2K at the Indy1500 show first of the month. Everyone thought that was extreme but people were still buying.

They are a bit rare as they were only produced from '88-'90 IIRC.  I have one in excellent condition and I paid $1100 for it a couple of years ago.  $2500 is absolutely insane, even if NIB in 100% condition with all accessories.
