I have a question about the new generation Colt M4 buttstock below, and I have contacted Colt with no real answer so looking to see if someone here can help. Can this buttstock be taken off and replaced with the A3 style? If so how hard is it to remove from the buffer tube?

A3 Style Stock?

Do you mean a Generation 3, or 4, collapsible stock?

I mean, technically, an "A3" stock would be the same thing as an A2 stock, since the M16A3 is an FA M16A2...

Maybe he was a SeaBee in a past life?

I should have put A2, I had  M4 A3 on the brain.

Wow, imitation is the greatest form of flattery. I suppose Magpul should be happy.

Yay for trying something new but what's with the QD socket at the toe of the stock?

Two questions:

1.) Is this really the new colt stock?

2.) If so, is it just the new Wilson Combat stock?

The Colt new buttstock is the same as the Wilson-Rogers SuperStoc except the Colt have Colt markings.

Here's are vid instruction links of the new stock and instructions on installing fixed rifle and carbine buttstocks from Brownells.

That is a pic of a Generation 4 (post 2002) collapsible stock. The stocks are an easy swap.

Cost on one of these stocks?

The Colt new stock (and Rogers Super-Stoc) body only not including the RE and hardware are about $75.

They're selling them at the EE look for dealer Dennis Todd.

The Wilson-Rogers Super-Stoc version are also available from shopwilsoncombat.com.

Why did Colt take credit for this?

Just marketing?

I was at Colt industry forum and from what I read over there, this stock will not go to .gov customers.

I'm not aware of them taking credit for it. They are getting the stock from the manufacturer. They chose it as the new stock to put on the guns they sell. There was a thread about it in the new products forum some time ago. Colt is a site sponsor now. That thread my be in the archives by now.

I see.. I have seen it mentioned in a couple places as "the new colt stock"  so I was confused as to if they said that or if people were just associating them together as one.
