My factory COLT M4 Heavey buffer, the face of it looks like crap. The weapon has only had 200 rds thru it. The face of the buffer looks like its been thru hell and back. Everything works fine, but this does concern me a great deal. Has anyone else ran across this problem before?

I am running an H buffer with a RRA M-4 stock, tube, and spring. (Armalite Mid length).  No wear pattern is present.

It runs fine, however, my bolt no longer locks back after the last round, several different mags.

Is this common with the H buffer?  Anybody wanna trade for a standard RRA CAR buffer?

I was wondering about the H buffer myself.  I have a 16" Bushy without the H buffer....runs fine, but what was the purpose of the heavier buffer.....slow the cyclic rate in full autos, or improve cycling in 14.5 inch carbines and under???  Will I ever need one????

HEH....sorry for totally jacking this thread.

lower or bolt is out of spec a little. When the upper is closed the bolt push back buffer 1/8'' or so. If the bolt is not in spec or the lower is not in spec the buffer is still riding on the detent. I had a lower that did that change lower buffer fixed. It will not hurt the rifle but you may want to order a few 50 cent detents because it will brake them. I have see a few ar do the same thing . Don't worry
