I'm going to get an Aimpoint PRO for my new Colt I just bought yesterday and I was wondering which Larue Mount to get for it so I can have a 1/3 lower Co-witness with my BUIS? On Larue's website it has several different options but for this optic but it doesn't say which one to use for the setup I'm looking for. Also I was wondering if it is even necessary to buy another mount because the Aimpoint PRO does come with it's own mount. Is the quality of the mount it comes with ok or should I buy the Larue and if so which one? BTW, here is a pic of my new Colt. Isn't she purdy?

The Aimpoint mount is very sturdy, certainly as strong as the optic is. It's configured for lower-1/3 though you can pull out the spacer and run it as absolute. If you need to save a couple ounces or just really dig the way the LaRue mount looks then you can go with that but speaking in utilitarian terms the PRO's mount is perfectly fine.

(EDIT) The aluminum is purty, but I'm one of the...six people on this board that doesn't like Magpul stuff.

The included mount is good to go. It does not have a quick disconnect lever although the torque screw is a pretty sweet design, IMO. It is also quite a bit bulkier/heavier than a Larue. Personally, I can't justify the extra $120.

Thanks for the info. That should save me over 100 bucks. So do you think the PRO is the way to go or should I go with a micro?

The micro w/ Larue is a sweet setup, but over $200 more than the PRO.  The PRO is the best value, esp. by using the included mount.   Depends on whether you value small size, longer batt. life and QD mount over the cost savings of the PRO.

For that rifle, I'd just get the PRO and spend the $100 you allocated for the Larue mount towards a good sling and light.

Congrats on your new Colt carbine, you won't get disappointed by it, they're very reliable in my long 42 years experience with Colt AR rifles and carbines. I'm also a long time owner of 24 years of Aimpoint optics so that's my preferred brand.

Currently I have two Colt 6920 standard model carbines, my second one I had installed a Magpul MIAD FDE grip and Magpul STR FDE stock it handles great better than my other one with the military M4 furniture in my own opinion.

I'm using an older model Aimpoint M2 for eight years now without any problems, it is the same outer dimensions as the PRO model except mine have a shorter battery life, I'm using a LaRue Tactical cantilever model LT129 QD lever mount because I sometimes use my magnifier behind my dot sight.

If you're not going to use any magnifier or night vision optics behind the Aimpoint just get the standard LaRue model LT150 QD mount, most all their mounts are lower 1/3 co-witness and are very robust in construction, also unbeatable return to zero performance.

Also if you want to get the LaRue mount and want to save a little money get both the optic and mount from LaRue Tactical they offer them as package combo deals, they're more expensive if purchased separately.

About the T-1 Micro, I have friends that have them and are nicer, smaller and lighter but at extra cost, if you prefer them and don't mind the cost also get them with LaRue QD mount.
