I have an opportunity to buy a new Colt HBAR 2 for $900. I was thinking of getting a RRA mid length A4 until I saw the price on the HBAR. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Buy the Colt now and pick up the RRA later.

I don’t think you can go wrong either way. Both are excellent rifles. If it were my dime I would go with the RRA standard A4, as opposed to the mid length. It gives you more options for sighting. I own a Colt Hbar and absolutely love the rifle, but if I ever shoot the barrel out I am going to put a 20 inch 1/7 gov profile on it. The extra weight of the Hbar is not real bad; I just think it is unnecessary. If you shop around you could find the RRA for less than the $900. However the $900 is a good price for the Colt NIB.

Or you could look at a CMMG gov. A little expensive, but it has all the gov specs.

I don't care for the weight of the HBAR (been there, done that), but that's a great price.

Get the Colt.
