I'm checking to see if anyone has tried this combo before, i.e., taking one of the Colt 3x or 4x carryhandle scopes, or their Chinese clones, and putting it an ACOG mount for use with a flattop?

Seems to me that it should work and could be a way to recycle that old scope. I know, I know, pay $30 for the Chinese scope and 3-4x that for the mount is odd, but it might be a way to get some use out of an otherwise obsolete product. It might also fit the bill for a low cost AR15 magnified optic.

Anyway, has anyone tried it? See any obvious reasons why it wouldn't work?

Or you could buy one of these for $14.95: www.tapco.com/product_information.asp?number=MNT0907 Allows for the use of scopes that are designed for AR carrying handles to used on the flat top AR models or any weaver-type base.
