That guy has been trying to sell that rifle forever.

So since his add is new, I guess technically its not a repost.

That is a fantastic old SP I.

I cannot believe how much the guy wants for it, though.

Not that this will change your mind, but original Mod 601s complete with green furniture in v.g. + condition advertise for 18-20K.

Class 3 is not for poor guys like me!

This is just a speculator looking for a fool. Here is the original ad at $7500.  Notice the ship date on the Colt letter. I consider a 1963 rifle as one that was sold or otherwise left the factory in '63 with all '63 components. A rifle that left the factory in late '66 with all '66 components except the lower is a 1966 rifle no matter what the serial number says.

Hey, it's not even Class 3!  That's waaaaay too much money.  If it was a transferrable machine gun, it *would* be worth that much.  Damn...so what's my minty 1965 SP1 worth?

That guy's crazy. He's trying to sell it for double what he bought it for on the EE.

Yeah I wouldn't even consider buying this.
The seller is a really greedy bastard, too.

This would be a better investment although I don't think I could shoot it. A kb would be grounds for suicide

He should have used some of the photo's from the orig. ad.  I think the manual, letter, and mags would help the sell.

True, but not the one that shows the original ship date. That would disprove what he's trying to imply WRT how "early" it actually is. At least WE are well-informed.

Not really.  If no one buys it, he's ok.  If someone buys it he made several thousand dollars.  He's not greedy. Ken Lay, now there was a greedy piece of slime. The guy selling the rifle is simply a capitalist.  No one is forcing anyone to buy it. What he paid for it is not relavant at all.  I hate to bust your bubble but you buy things everyday that are marked up 200% or more, it's just a fact of life.  What someone will pay for it is all that matters.

True, but still. Charging $6000+ more than what you paid for a rifle is pretty bad. I mean, I can see the $7500 he paid for it but not $14000, $3k more than a MACHINEGUN. Wouldn't you agree?

Btw, who's Ken Lay and what did he do? Never heard of him.

Ken Lay=ENRON, then he drops dead right after being convicted.  There are quite a few things I own that I would not sell for twice what I paid for them.  They are worth that much to me.  Is this being greedy???  I spent the time  to get them at what I thought was a fair price.  If you want it you have to give me what it is worth to me.  No one is forcing anyone to buy that rifle, he will not likly be able to sell it.  Middle men make a lot of money getting you things you want, that's how the World works.

Your rifle has way more early details than #18.
