I went into my local gun shop today looking for a colt 6520 but none was available without paying inflated $1500.00 price tag.  They did have colt #6721 for $1200.00.  I liked it so I bought it.  Did I get ripped off or is this a fair price?  BTW, owner pitched in two extra 20 round mags.  What do you think?  Should I have held out for the 6520?  I couldn't see the sudo M4 16" was worth the difference.  Oh I forgot, the receiver says LE.  Is this a standard mark or pre-noban?

I ment 1500.00 for colt 6920 (a3 flat-top with 16" M4 profile).  I bought 6721 (a3 flat-top with 16" H-bar)  Sorry for any confusion.  Colt has too many friggin' numbers!

Are you happy with the rifle?  If so, then you paid a fair price and don't you let anyone tell you otherwise.    Since you asked, I think you did great.

$1500 is too damn much for the 6520, IMO, but some people are paying it - happily! - because for one reason or another they really want an M4gery with the "LE/Export Only" stamp on it.  Regarding those markings: those are left over from the ban; rumor has it the next generation of Colt LE/Mil rifles won't have that on them but I haven't seen anything in writing on that.

One note: the seller did not "pitch in" those 20-round magazines; they come with the rifle along with a cleaning kit and a sling.

El_Roto,

Thanks for the reply.  I really like this rifle!  The balance is almost perfect with the 16" Heavy barrel.  The fit and finish are absolutely perfect!  Really nice anodizing.  Looks like Colt payed peticular attention to this rifle.  Saw a tread about poor finishes on some 6920's,  Not so on this Colt!  Did I mention I really like this rifle?Regarding your "One Note".  The dealer gave me 2 additional mags to go with the 2 included.

Dealer getting another 6721 today.  The price is $1200 + 5% sales tax.  N.E. Guns in North East, MD.  If anybody is interested.  Also, they have police trade 6950 like new condition (???)for $1100.  I didn't see the 6950.  The dealer was on the phone with distributer and asked me if interested.  I said No! but I might want to look at this rifle.  Nice people at N.E. Guns but Maryland has screwy law: must be H-Bar or it is considered AW and needs to be transfered if out of state residence.  The 6721 was no problem for me because it is H-Bar.  The stamp on the barrel was enough for "cash and carry".

Good Gun.  Decent Price.  A new Colt is always worth $1200 bucks.

That's what I paid for my 6721 as well. Some will say they can be had cheaper, but for the most part those people are on waiting lists or are LEOs. Bird in the hand is worth two in the bush

AR-15Nutt - I understand the addiction.  Quality never goes out of style.  Have both Colt and Bushmaster.  I am really impressed with the 6721 fit and finish.  Nice Job Colt!!!

Markm - I agree, two hundred more than my recent Bushy and a superior paint job.

scottmon- Thanks, was nice suprise.

SNorman, I think it is either a Bingo or Lotto thing.  The only justification I can think of for this kind of nomenclature.  Colt would have been better to just call them by what they are; AR15. M4 and then use succesive version numbers v1, v2, v3, v4.  But what do I know?  Anybody have a better definition for all these friggin' numbers.  Shit, I just bought one and can't think of the model number.h.gif  Now  I got to go back and look at my earlier post.  Just kidding.  Next week I won't be though!!!

I am currently considering a Colt 6721 for 1600.00 . So the 1200.00 you payed is good .The 6721 I am considering is a LEO gun as well but it is supposed to be one of the first of the 6721's it has a greenish gray color , 4 leo mags , closed cell assault bag , 100 rnds of Federal ammo a scope  mount , an unused bipod , cleaning kit and manual the gun is as new and unfired but the box was lost in a move , supposedly it was manufactured before '94 which makes it worth a little more , I was told . I still am undecided .
