Colt 5 round magazines

I recently purchased a new pre-ban Colt that came with 5 round mags. These are the kind with the limiter installed and a rivet in the floorplate. How difficult is it to remove the rivet without damaging the floorplate? Would I be better off trading them for new Colt 20 or 30 round mags? What is the going rate for brand new 5 round pre-ban Colt mags? Thanks.

They are prized. Put'em away and get you some good ole USGI 20/30 rdrs for the range.

The f.plate rivet can be removed by using a small drill bit and drilling through the center of the rivot. However, these mags are sought after by hunters as well as the folks who reside in capacity restricted states (CA, HI, MD & NJ). It would be better to preserve the mag's factory condition and let those seeking the 5rd. mags have a shot at purchasing or trading for it.

Target435's price range is correct.
