I am new to this forum but I have been lurking here for a few weeks and have learned alot from you all. I recently purchased a Stag Arms M-4gery that came with an Arms #40 rear sight. I want to mount an Eotech as soon as I have enough cash. I have three questions. Do I need a riser for the Eotech and If so which one ? Can I get away with mounting the Eotech directly to the flat top? Which model Eotech should I buy? I am not concerned with it being night vision compatable. Thanks ahead of time for your replies.

Need one - No. However I prefer the EOTech slightly raised to put the irons in the lower portion of the display. There is only 1 to get if you decide you want to raise it - and that is the LaRue.

Yes, it comes with a built in mount that puts the EOTech in same plane as the iron sights.

Which model Eotech should I buy? .

Model 512.

It's NOT NVG compatible (so you save a few $$)
It has the protective roll bar
It uses cheap and commonly available AA batteries (Alkaline, Lithium and NiMH rechargeable)
