I just bought a DPMS and it came with two 10 round smokey clear magazines, looking for 30 round, or 40 round, or even 50 round clear smokey mags... thanks!

I have a couple of the 10 rounders and have my doubts about their quality and life expectancy.... Never seen any that held more than 10 rounds - I'm not sure that they exist. Your best bet is USGI mags.

Eagle used to make clear plastic AR mags, but they were crap. Ive yet to meet a plastic AR mag I liked. They have a nasty tendency to crack. The only strong plastic mags Ive seen are for AK variants.

Is there a website that has pictures of the different types of Magazines for quick identification? How do you know it is a USGI mag? I bought a used Orlite mag yesterday, the gun shop saleman threw it on the ground and stomped on it, then he said "Thats what these are popular for, they are indestructable", I brought it home, and it has a crack near the very tip, so when 30 rounds is in it, it slides in very slowly because of the crack. Kinda funny if you ask me, so I get to take it back today. Figured I'd get a USGI if they have it.

The Mag FAQ: http://www.ar15.com/forums/announcement.html?b=3&f=17&id=26 USGI mags are black, aluminum, and come in 20 or 30 round sizes.

I had the same questions about 2 years ago until I found some at a Gun Show. To sum it up - there're crap! Don't waste your money on the 30rd Eagle brand. Not sure about 10rd mags from DPMS, but why waste the money on a 10rd mag when most of the magazine is in the magwell. I'm assuming you would like to see how many rounds you have left. Don't know if I would want a clear 30rd magazine if I was in the mililtary. Your just letting the enemy know how many bullets you don't have.

If they are so close that it makes a difference, you have bigger problems.

Ramline used to make clear plastic 30# round mags. In my experience they work ok but are fragile. Check out Gunbroker.com or other site to see some pictures as people are always selling them.

I have used a couple of the ten rounders, and Im with everyone else, their crap. I have been thinking of modding a 30rnd'er with a dremel to have larger openings on the sides, maybe some cool designs. Anyone see any problems with that if the edges are sanded after?
