Can you tell from this pic if the bore on this barrel is chrome lined?

Another pic, illuminated with a Surefire L2

I'd say probably not. There is usually a ring of chrome on the crown of the barrel, but it could just be dirty.

A better place to look would be the chamber and chamber face. It will be obvious there.

Not really but that thin silver ring could be a reflection or it could be chrome. How about a chamber shot.

The chamber is chrome. The ring is not a reflection. I don't want to screw up the crown trying to polish it up for a pic!

It's not lined. You would be able to see it on the lands and grooves pretty easily.
There would be a small overlay of chrome on the crown also.

Chrome chamber, chrome bore. That slight silver ring around the bore is the chrome.

All I see is the crown, no chrome.  If it is a colt, many of their non 1 in 7 barrels are chrome chamber only, not bore any more.

Does anyone have a pic of a used chrome barrel crown showing the ring?

If it's a Colt, it has some stampings on the front of the barrel.  What are the markings?

The marking is C MP 5.56 NATO 1/9. The barrel is dated from '99. Purchased from YTM (now out of business). It is a cut down HBAR as the very edge of "H" is visible. Word on the street back then was it was machined into M4 profile for police that wanted a 16" M4 1/9. As Colt was only making 1/7 M4s they took some HBAR stock and machined them. It appears no different than my other Colt and BM barrels when viewed down the bore. All of them have the uniform platinum coloring. There is a chrome ring visible in the bore when viewed from the chamber.

If it started life as a 1in9 HB, I'd have to assume that it has a chrome lined chamber only.

The pic does seem to show a tiny bright ring at the barrel crown, but my hunch is that's just where the crown cutting tool took off the finish. You can test it though by putting a drop of instant blue on the ring. If it takes the blue, then it's just bare steel. If it doesn't take any color, then it's a very narrow overplating of the chrome.
