Why not? I think it would make a sweet presentation grade AR for my son in a few years .

It can be done, although chroming aluminum is more complicated than chroming steel.

in fact if I remember right there was a thread showing a AR15 (looks like a Colt SP1) completely refinished in nickel, along with walnut furnatures

But don't do it, for the sake of your gun. Your son will thank you for it too.

Sometimes it isn't about tactical or practical , but something being nice and a one of a kind .

Now that is sweet as all hell . Get a Ti carrier in there and some gold for the triger and controls and that would just be Blingtastic.

I thought I asked random questions!! hatA bit more scratch-prone, but I doubt you'll be rolling in the dirt...

Make sure to post pics!

Has anyone tried getting small parts and such chrome plated in a matte black?  I know it would be slightly reflective but I've seen it done nicely on pistols before.  I would want it done on the lower parts primarily because i think it would make for a crisp single stage and might improve the feel of the stock trigger as there would be a polished surface that could not corrode and would wear very little over time.  I am currently considering having this done to some magazines if I can find a place that will do only a few because the shiny nickel ones don't look right to me and I wouldn't have to worry about refinishing them ever.

There's a gold plated AR with walnut furniture in the Olympic Arms main building.  I saw a picture of it in the showroom, and I thought that's all they had was a picture, but then I saw the actual rifle in a back room.  Serious bling bling. My wife went nuts.

I wasn't sure what to think when I first read the the title, but I definitly think that Ameetec-Arms rifle looks really cool.

I just know I'm going to disprove any chance of being considered a real member of the human race by this comment... but... that chromed job looks JUST like what I expect Cybermen would use if the BBC had a decent budget in those days.

I looked at this once for shts and giggles...

Talked to some local platers, and most remarked that if they got the parts still in the white they would have better luck, however if they had to deal with the old anodizing the finish might not be uniform in appearance.

Colt made some nickel plated AR's awhile back and I liked them...
