I am trying to convert a preban upper w/ barrel to a post ban. I know I need to take off the bayonet lug,(because there are so many drive-by 'bayonettings'), and I have to take off the flash hider. I have seen some 'bird cage' muzzle brakes advertised and am curious 1)what makes these brakes different from a flash hider? 2)Do they have different cut out's or is it the diameter at the muzzle larger? 3)Does anyone have any experience or a rifle with this type of brake? I have been trying to research these brakes but I can't find much info.. I would like to buy a preban lower and say to heck with all this hoopla, but am low on fundage,and I got a great deal on my upper. Any info. would greatly be appreciated,thanks.

I'm not sure which are "legal". I've heard alot of talk about pressed on and welded. I'm assuming it has something to do with being able to remove it and screw on a suppressor or something!!!

You need a postban muzzlebrake or "Fake"
flashhider. And of course you must either
remove the threads or permanently attack the
muzzle device.
