Here's one. I recommend the heavy, fluted bbl. in 16" with the shorty handguards. Makes a handy carbine and shoots fine, although it is a fact that with the 'Dissipator' set-up (longer handguards) you get a longer sight radius, which will improve aiming accuracy. how do you like the fluted barrel?
Link Posted: 6/17/2003 6:09:26 PM EDT
What can I say? It's wonderful, and being short, doesn't make the gun feel front-heavy. Extremely rigid, you are not going to deflect it with a sling hold, even in the 20", and it stands to reason that it vibrates and deforms less when firing. You ever see that old cartoon where they fire a rifle and you see the bulge going down the barrel, the barrel stretching then rebounding after the bullet leaves? Well, that's pretty much what actually happens, but on a much smaller scale. With the full-heavy profile barrel, that action is considerably reduced. That's why 'bull' barrels are used. The fluting on the full-heavy profile barrel gives you a faster cooling, lighter barrel than the non-fluted, but with nearly all the stiffness. Plus, most importantly, I like the look of the fluted barrel.

i'm thinking about the ak muzzel break with it.

Beware dude - I hear rumors that the AR with an AK brake is one loud mutha... WATCH YO' MOUTH

dont get the ak break. it may look cool but its loud as shit. me and my dad went shooting last friday and i forgot to get my ear muffs. so we get half way there and didnt want to turn around so we just kept on. my dad said they used cigaret filters for ear plugs when they where in the army but that doesnt work. my ear still feels a little weird. its just my left ear though.

I've said it before, but that's the damndest camo job I've ever seen on a rifle - hell, you can hardly see the thing on a black background. Excellent blend of color, pattern and disruptive theory.
