I am left-handed, but the typical safety selector is on the left side of the gun. Can I reverse it and put it on the right side? I took it apart, but didn't think that's going to work. Do I need a reverse safety selector or something?

I'm a lefty too.  JPL makes a reversible selector that you can set up just for lefties -- no need for an ambi.  I ordered one a few weeks ago, but they're currently on backorder, so I'm still waiting.

All of the safety/ selectors that OA makes can be used on either side.  I've swapped over several for my guys.

Without knowing the make of weapon that he has, how can you give that answer?  Sorry, but with certain parts you can.

sure ....

the detent would not work if you simply put the selector in the other way..

making it not worthy of a SAFE or battle efficiant rifle...

w/o detent in place you sure could do it but it would be sloppy... and could be engaged in to safe on it's own.

so answer would still be NO on a mil spec lower

You could always get the Ambi type and dremel the left side lever so it won't be bothering you. I am a lefty and do not have a problem with the standard one but wouldn't mind trying the ambi fix.

Stickman is right.
Olympic makes (or made) a selector with both ends machined for the detent. So it is reversible and works. I have one.

Ambi safety makes more sense than LH only, if you envision a scenario where a buddy might pick up or be handed your rifle under stress. . . . 25 bucks will usually do it, check Brownell's catalogue.
