Hi guys bought a A1 stock a couple of years ago from Calavary Arms and it seemed cheaply made. Has anybody bought one from them recently  and are they a little more durable? Thanks John

Elaborate?  Define "cheaply" ..... what specific issues to you have w/ it?

When you grabbed the stock you could push in on the plastic like it was to thin. My other A1 stock is stout so is my A2 stock.

Technically speaking a true A1 stock will always be "cheaper" made then an A2 stock.  Which is part of the reason there was a switch to the A2.  It wasnt just the length they changed.

I thought it was an adjustable KAC stock?

IMO the "best" A1 stock is the Colt CS (A1 length and A2 construction).  I picked one up on the EE.  Solid.

I picked one up on Zak-Smith's recommendation and I'm stisfied with it.  (I'd like to try a Colt CS but I think they must have all ended up in the saddle bags of the Unicorns.)

they will feel more solid with a A2 buttplate.

I had one delivered last night from Brownells.  I boxed it back up and the wife will ship it back today.

I was not impressed.  The butt plate was very flimsy with no steel in it at all that I could find.  The upper screw almost went all the way through the butt plate with minimal torque on it.  The lower screw required a different size allen wrench that the top.  The top screw wasn't drilled for drainage.  The butt stock door, hindge, and latch where all soft rubber like material.

I will be ordering some GI A1 stocks from RRA and see if they are better.

We (KAC) buy the dark earth color shell from Cavalry Arms, them we modifiy it with our adjustable length buttplate insert, etc., for the M110 and Mk 11 Mod 2.  We have no issues with the shell.  And if you have issues with their rubber buttplate, then as indicated above, it can easily be replaced with an A2.  Still a reaaly good deal allaround when you consider the minimal upgrade cost & effort.
I mean part of this AR-15 "sport" of ours is swithching parts around..right?
Look what I did a few years ago when I combined an Ace stock with Vltor's cheekpieces.

Ahh, OK.  I thought Zak was saying that the M110 has a fixed stock.
