Its a thin (original A1 profile) barrel. LOVE IT! Best thing to come along in a long time.

What Forrest said. I have one and it handles great. I can't see where performance suffers at all. If I were in the market for a new AR I would purchase the superlight again.

If I were to buy a new AR right now, that's the one I'd get, and it's the one I recommend anytime anyone asks for a recommondation for a 1st AR.

Most people like the carbines better, and the fact that it doesn't come with an HBAR is a definate bonus. So many people dont' understand how a real AR is supposed to feel and often don't appreciate this point.

I have a pre-ban Colt Govt Carbine 6520 with the colapsable stock and the thin barrel, gotta love it. It is sooo light and quick.
