I'm planning to swap the post ban barrel on my AR15 for a preban short barrel. I've narrowed my choices down to the following two Bushmaster barrels:
A - 14.5" M4 with permanently attached 1.5" flash suppressor - $258.45
B - 11.5 Heavy Barrel with permanently attached 5.5" flash suppressor - $223.45

I'm leaning a little more toward option B since the barrel is heavier and the price is a little lower. However I like the look of the M4 configuration a little more.

Any opinions or experience would be greatly appreciated.

You severely limit your effective range by going with an 11.5" barrel. Your velocities out of that barrel are much lower than out of a longer barrel. But if you are a 100yd and in plinker, you will likely never see the difference. Get whatever you like best, but understand the downfalls of each before making your choice. I'm sure more opinions will follow.

Just for info, I have an 11.5"/5.5" upper, but I only use that for load development for SBR configurations. I can't have an SBR in MI, but I may not live here all my life and I want the data for future reference if needed. And it is fun to play with, so what the hell, another toy for me to play with.

I like the look of the 11.5 + 5.5 also, but after posing my question, I'd rather stay more authentic and leave it for an XM177E2 project down the road

Turdy makes a point about the look, but you can get the same look with a 16" barrel with a slip over style flash hider that slides over the 16" barrel and gives you the same effective look with all the velocity and range benefits of a 16" barrel.
