I am a greybeard and I never saw a black rifle until I was going home, after 2 tours in Naval Air (it was not in europe). However I have went to the dark side and ordered a Bushmaster Predator. My goal is to maybe try f-class shooting out to 600 yds? The coyote/ varmint could use some work around here. So any input would be helpful
I reload and have many 223 brass completments od PD.
Thanks
Jim

You will love that AR.  If you are looking for suggestions on what bullets to use, the most accurate one is the Sierra 77 Gr. SMK.  The Hornady 75 Gr. BTHP is also good choice and they are cheaper, but generally less accurate.  Also the Sierra 69 Gr. SMK is pretty good.  And there is also the Nosler 77 Gr. BTHP.  All of them should do well since you will be reloading.

Ok I will be up and running, but need some scope advice. I have mounted a 3x9 Redfield  on my new Bushmaster Predator, that was gathering dust. I would like to go to a 4x?, or a 6-20. I have been told that the cycle of a AR has affects on the turrets and losing the zero. The Burris with "posi-lock" will over come this. It is not the recoil that does this but the cycle of the bolt. As this is my first AR I would appreciate you input.

I have used 3 scopes on Bushmaster AR's.  They are an IOR fixed 4x, Leupold 3-9x40, and a fixed 10x.  I found that the 3-9x40 was the best mix.  However, I never get a chance to shoot past 200 yards.  I did not like the magnification at 10x.  On hot days it gets very blurry from heat distortion.  I am by no means an expert on this though.

I am planning on buying a predator upper real soon.   They look very cool and when I get mine it will have the 3-9x40 on it.  I never used the mini scope risers and don't know what rings would work best though.

Good luck!
