Hello, I got this gun today, don't know that much about it.
Can't find the model online anywhere, even at Bushmaster.com closest I can find is this http://www.cybershooters.org/dgca/bushmaster_m4.htm  near the middle of the page

Model is BCWA1F  XM15 ES2 16" Carbine,        M4 barrel turndown?? Suppressor??
Bayonet lug?? . . . . A1 sights. and A1-FA??   never seen an M4 with A1 before. .. . its brand new, hasn't even been shot yet. . . . weird, but cool, and the price was right! Got rid of my AK and with some cash got this. . . .

Can anyone tell me anything specific about it?  suppressor, year of production?
Here are a couple pics.

somebody posted one of these the other day...

IIRC, BM produces 500 of these per month for a specific contract.

We see these come up for sale once in a while. Davidsons (a distributor) just had them up for sale this weekend pretty cheap. I almost ordered a couple, but most everyone who comes in where I work wants a flat top. Fixed carry handle guns sit on the shelf a while.

Anything sells at the righlt price

Damn, I wish I would have known that! I've got money set aside for another MRP and a camera...

Cool! But you should think of your SN.

Does Bushmaster make a detachable A1 sight?

Nice!...edit to cover you SN though.

The serial number debate has been done to death and a lot of people just don't worry about it.

Okay, what's wrong with the serial number? Doesn't the 'L' mean the lower was made by Lewis?

Some of the tinfoil hat crowd (read "paranoid") think you shouldnt post your serial number openly because someone might call in your serial number as stolen and then you get in trouble.  But its a bunch of B/S if you think about it logically.

I think the "L" was from LAR?

Yeah, I like to 'paint' out my serial numbers, too, in similar photos, and list with 'x' digits on forums. I guess it's just old habit. I imagine some time in the past somebody actually made a claim against a firearm owned by somebody else, because it's been a standard practice for a long time. If somebody actually made a claim against your gun, I think maybe the problem would be that you would have to deal with the police and possibly the BATFE in trying to prove it was yours, and I'd rather block serial numbers than even think about getting dragged through that process.

Cool!
I built a C7/M4 with a Bushmaster 1/9, and a fixed stock, several years ago. I didn't know it was an actual model.

A1-type upper on what looks like their "Patrolmens Carbine."

The A1-type rear aperture and forward assist aren't unusual. A similar batch of A1-type Superlights came the same way. The carry handle sight grooves were also off-center. One of those is close to yours in serial number, so that might be worth taking a hard look at.

HTH

Swap out that ugly forward assist

I took her out and ran 200 rounds through her in a hurry.
Took a bit to get her perfect (perfect in my world means off hand you can hit a one-foot rock at 500 yards or so) . . . once she got dialed in, my brother and I really put it to her.
She shoots nicely, almost as nice as my Colt, who we brought along so she wouldn't get jealous. . .  a real double date.
My brother wants her something fierce.

I like her bird cage, nice difference to me. Maybe I'll thread my colt barrel and put one on her as well.
I noticed the sight aperature is much different than my Colt. . .  my Colt is big and small, this one is sort of small and sort of a little bit bigger ha ha ha.
I'm going to put a hogue grip on her pronto!

I removed the serial number pic. . . . I didn't think anyone would care to cause such trouble, I guess there are all sorts of people out here huh?

Nobody on this board though, you guys rock!

Thanks.

I fixed my SN for those inclined to stare at it for too long. ha ha ha.

I think I like that ugly A1 assist better than my A2 assist actually. . . .

I made her sleep in the gun cabinet her first night, at the wifes request!!!! But I kept the light on for her.

I know in a lot of car forums folks blur their license plates. One of the reasons is to make theft a little harder, apparently one's address can be easily obtained by a theif using DMV records. I guess if someone had access to BATF records they could find where you live and come steal your AR too.

...just a thought...

My father just got the exact same one a few weeks back.  Pretty cool rifle, shot nice too.  The sights on that A1 are rock solid...literaly lol.  But they were pretty dead on.

I think thats the whole idea isn't it? I have to use my gun for a baseball bat against the enemies head. . . .  the sights will still be on . . . . I don't think Swarovski can claim such toughness LOL!
Rock Solid baby!

Huh.......a brand new Bushy w/ a tear drop forward assist and A1 sights. Do that make them like that w/ a 5.5 inch flash hider?

Thanks,

Looks real good to me. Are you going to leave it stock?
Link Posted: 3/13/2006 9:11:32 AM EDT

Yes Bone Stock, the more stuff you add onto it, the more stuff can go wrong with it.
I just pack it full of ammo and shoot the hell out of it. . . . .
It will live with me on weekends in the field.
Give my Colt a rest for a bit anyway.

I just like em plain and dependable. . .  thats the way I roll ha ha

I have a A1 15HBAR Bushy I love it

You have A nice one

I like the A1 upper ALOT BETTER than A2!

I haven't ever even seen an M4/A1 so I don't know, bushy doesn't even have it listed on their site (least not that I could find) you could probably swap out the birdcage
