Hey all, I got an older bushmaster XM15-E2S on consignment and I was curious about the rifle and what they're worth. It appears to be a competition model, bull barrel, 2 stage factory trigger. Mags looks like bushmaster took 10 rounders and added a +5 extension.
From what I gather the mags are pre ban era of march 2000, if someone could confirm that, that would be nice.

The Clinton Ban ran from 9/13/1994 - 9/13/2004, so the mag is Ban Era (not Pre).
Does the rifle a bayonet lug and an A2 flash hider? If it doesn't, the rifle is likely also Ban Era. |

I meant ban era. Yes it has an unthreaded barrel and the lug ground off. IIRC the old AWB had a 10 round limit so would that mean these mags were converted post ban to 15 rounds? |

Maybe a New Jersey mag? They have a 15 round limit like Colorado. Is there a date in the mag?

call Bushmaster and see if they can tell you something based on the SN.
here's what I could find with a quick research on Google: Below L051000 - Assembled Pre-Ban Rifles and some pre-94 lowers L051001-L063000 - Mixed Pre-Ban Assembled Rifles and Pre-Sept 94 Lowers L063001 and Up - Post-Ban Bushy serial #'s that start with BFI are post Cerebus purchase rifles. |

So I was really confused and tried loading the mag and sure enough they only hold 10 rounds. Just weird that they made them like that. What I think happened was during the ban bushmaster cut up a bunch of 30 rounders and converted them to these so they wouldn't take a huge loss on the ban mags. So final question, what do these things go for and thanks for the insight btw. |

The L prefix lowers were produced by LAR if I recall.
What are the specs? I'm guessing 20" bull barrel or heavy barrel? Maybe with the free float DCM handguard that accepts the standard A2 plastic handguards? Or is it more of a Hogue aluminum Free Float affair? The AR market is pretty tough right now, but it might be worth a little more to some kind of Bushmaster collector. I'd say $600 is a good ballpark. I agree with the previous poster, the mag sounds like some kind of NJ type mag. |

The mag was made to extend past the mag well for easier mag changes. It is also possible that National Match competition required that specification for the magazine. I doubt that manufacturers were ceding to individual state mandates at the time.
eta: COLT's ban era magazines (9 round mags) were also 2 piece configurations, with an aluminum body connected to a plastic base. |

The magazine is a standard 20 or 30 rounder cut down and modified/blocked to the ban era 10 round limit. I bought a Clinton era AWB neutered Bushy in 1995 that came with that same magazine, a pinned and welded muzzle brake, fixed stock, and no evil bayonet lug or shoulder thing that goes up. After the ban expired, I installed all the evil parts.
It is just a well built Bushmaster to be enjoyed often. |

I'm betting its a 20" target model?
My dad bought a new one in 1999 and hasn't bothered to change a thing on it. He probably hasn't shot 200 round through it either. |
