Bushys used to look like eggplants. Fortunately, recent runs are the proper matte black.

Ditto them being black again; I'm just glad they fixed the purple problem.

Some dealers oil AR receivers (not necessary; they aren't going to rust), which makes them totally black. If they're dry, they look dark grey. It's simply a factor of the HCA (hard-coat anodizing) finish.
