had the chance to inspect and play with a burris tac30 at the local academy sports. The glass is nice for the price ($299) and it seems to have all the goodies I need for cqb as well as sone longer distance/dmr stuff.

Anyone have experience with this model?

I own two.  Been running them in 3 gun competitions for two years now.  They are a very good scope for the money. Definitely good out to 500 yards on 3 to 4 MOA targets. I may upgrade to a 1X6 when Burris gets that to market late this year but those run almost a grand more.

GREAT optic for the money. Check out Midway USA for deals on those from time to time.

Anyone know if this will hold up on a .308 gun?  I am thinking about picking one up for my SOCOM II but guess I can always put it on one of the AR's

I think it would hold up just fine, but for a .308 I would probably get the Burris MTAC 1.5-6X.  The reticle is supposed to be calibrated for the .308.  I bought my 1.5-6X from optics planet through the dvor.com website for $325 delivered.

I bought my Tac-30 from midway for about $260 delivered.  They had ~$30 coupon and it was on sale with free shipping on optics.  I'm happy with both of them.

Cool!  Thanks for the info.  I will probably go that way then.
