Im looking to get one as Im a big fan of Burris optics and from what I can gather, this would make a great optic for a carbine.  I have no use for those rails though, and would want them to come off.
Can the screws be put back in their spots?

Yes, there is a smaller (possibly less objectionable) rail underneath though.

I tried taking my off.  I took the screws out but it is still glued.  I didn't have the guts to break them lose.  Other people have.

Ya, they pop off with very little pressure, I used a "take-out chopstick" to pry it off. Just to see if I could. I thought about using some kind of spacer-washer to put the screws back on so they dont fubar any thing internaly on this thing(not that there that long, but it would be just my luck you know)then I put the whole thing back together and said f-it, leave it.

How are the optics?  I probably dont have to ask, since I already own 3 other Burris scopes, all of which are remarkably clear for the price.

Also, the aiming points, click here
600 yards?  Anyone try it any anything over 300 yet?

Yes, it is good to go at 500 yards with my 12 x 16 steel target.  My cuz has one on a Ruger AR556 and we get consistent hits with 68 gr Hornady handloads.  I also have one on a CMMG but I haven't got to do any shooting at 500 with this combo yet, but it was gtg at 500 on my LAR8.  I don't have a 600 yard range set up yet.
I just looked at the Burris website and noticed they finally figured out which yardage goes with each dot.  We have been using the dots at 100/200 thru 600 all along, since the dots on their previous chart of 100 thru 500 didn't match the trajectory with either a 5.56 or .308.

With 62gr bullets at 2925 fps I zero at 150 yards and use that dot for everything out to 225 yards.  That puts it about 3/8" high at 100 yards and 1 3/4" low at 200 yards, and everything else a really close match all the way to 600 yards.

Thanks for the info, wildnfree.  Is it just me, or do the older models have fewer holdover points, than the newer models?

That first reticle never made it into production.  They changed it to the second one before they released it to the public.

I can't find the eye-relief posted anywhere for this optic.  If it's greater than the TA33 and TA11, I'm definitely gonna have to consider this (though I'm still looking at the TAC30 as well).

I finally got into a local store today that carries them and got to look it over.  Just as I suspected, I really liked the glass and the quality.
Its on my list now, maybe 2 of them.

Just ordered mine as well. I've heard of canting issues because the mount is junk.

I recommend this. Replace the burris mount and put this in it's place. Plus you will have the ability to quickly remove your scope and use our BUIS in an emergency. They fit perfectly. The poster from midway usa was correct.

Plus the screws on the burris mount have to be tightened at a high torque setting. So, spend the extra $75 and get the AD B3 mount.

American defense B3 quick release mount.

Quick detatch is nice, but no canting issues with mine.  Mount works just fine.
