Hey guys, I don't know if this belongs here or the build it yourself section.

Id like to build an A1 style AR15 sometime. Wheres the best place to buy the upper and other parts?  I was browsing and there doesn't seem to be much out there.

Im talking A1 upper with 20" thin barrel, triangular handguards, A1 pistol grip. They don't have to be true vintage, newly made parts will be just fine.

You pick up a M16A1 parts kit from a few sites off the web but be warned they aren't in the best of shape and may need to be refinished. If you want to get newer/nicer parts and be as accurate as possible Nodak Spud makes an A1 style upper and lower in XM grey. You can find A1 furniture on gunbroker or the EE. DPMS makes reproduction A1 rear sight assembly, Fulton Armory used to but no longer seem to carry it. DPMS also makes a lower parts kit that when you do the naval jelly trick it turns a nice grey finish to match the lower receiver, just don't naval jelly the trigger guard or mag release they are aluminum. As for barrel Green Mountain makes an A1 profile barrel but you'll need a front sight block with a .625' diameter profile to match the barrel diameter. A lot of stuff is time consuming to find but after awhile it becomes the most enjoyable part of the retro hobby.
