Let me preface by saying by saying this is not my gun. Was not my money to spend, or parts to pick.

I was happy to spend some quality time with my brother I dont get to see much, drink some cold ones and put this thing together though..

He wanted to build a blinged out range gun in a different caliber..so he went with 300BO. (He also purchased an Omega suppressor to go on this, just started the wait)

Parts list:

Upper

F1 Firearms Upper Reciever
Odin Works 16" Stainless 300 BO Barrel (Machine work on barrel done by Twisted Barrel in Wyoming)
Fortis REV 9" Rail
V Seven Titanium GI barrel nut
Indian Creek Design Adjustable gas block
Stainless A2 birdcage
Np3 Raptor charging handle
Iron City Rifleworks Lightweight NiB BCG
Bobro BUIS
Eotech XPS2 300

Lower

Battle Arms Lower Reciever
Strike Industries Stainless takedown pins
Battle Arms stainless ambi safety
V Seven magazine catch
Nickel finish skeletonized bolt catch from DSA
KNS pins
Elftman single stage trigger
V Seven Titanium castle nut
Polished Anderson reciever extension
Aeon Tac LWB Stock
Tyrant Design aluminum grip
Geissele buffer spring
Lightweight buffer

Ceracoat done locally by Precision Tactical

Cell phone pics because I didnt bring my camera..

Had to do some fitting to make the Fortis rail work with the F1 Upper. Anti rotation tabs are meant to fit around a standard forged upper, the F1 has a more square profile..

There you have it.... "Gucci-flage"

You might want to try to "Gucci-flage" your photobucket account.

WTF. Ive had it with phototurdbucket. let me re host and try again..

(They work for me)

Tried it with imgur...
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 12:32:13 AM EST
What does it weigh?
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 12:37:12 AM EST
I would have went with just a bit longer rail. Not one that covers the whole barrel but, something in the 12-13" range. Other than that, Gucci status achieved...
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 12:37:52 AM EST
We didnt weigh it. It is pretty light. If I had to hazard a guess, I would say 5.5 - 6.0.

He wasn't strictly going for lightweight, though.

I personally would have too..

I think he just wanted to show off all that machined barrel that he could..
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 1:26:30 AM EST
As much as I'd like to say the rail is too short, your brother was thinking ahead.

He's obviously going to SBR it someday and let the Omega come right up to the rail

I like the finish of the receivers and handguard.
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 1:38:14 AM EST
I'd shoot it.
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 6:38:14 AM EST
It's a lot better looking than that pink/purple F1 build that popped up a few weeks ago.
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 6:47:38 AM EST
It would be chambered in 300blk

I'd never build anything like this but good for him for being different I guess.  Interesting taste
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 6:52:45 AM EST
I dig it man.

I've got 7 AR's that are fairly plain Jane and truth be told, they get boring after a while. Nothing wrong with mixing it up. That's what this platform excels at.
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 6:56:03 AM EST
Definitely not my cup of tea........but that barrel....WOW!
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 7:09:38 AM EST
Sorta want.
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 7:14:03 AM EST
Looks like something from a video game.  Props for being different.  That barrel can double as an emergency saw in SHTF!
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 7:40:01 AM EST
nice work, but exposed part of barrel is hideous
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 7:50:10 AM EST
The barrel is the worst  I have ever seen on an AR

Rest of the rifle is alright though. It's not my thing but it has an appeal. Good on you for spending time with your brother
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 8:03:47 AM EST
I believe you achieved his goal.  That's definitely different.
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 8:23:38 AM EST
I'm sorry OP.

That said, if going with 300BO, he should have SBR'ed it considering he already has a can.

The word "hideous" now has a new picture next to it in the dictionary.

For something that looks retarded, it doesn't look that bad. I was expecting to see some Gucci brand hydrodipping or something, that just looks like some sci fi movie gun.
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 10:27:06 AM EST
Barrel looks too long for 300blk.  Chop that thing down!
Link Posted: 6/30/2017 10:51:55 AM EST
I advised him about the barrel length. We built him an SBR last year, and he didnt want to go that route again..

This is his shorty..

Link Posted: 6/30/2017 11:07:39 AM EST
He likes it that's all that matters. Well that and you got to spend time with your brother. I haven't seen mine in almost ten years.

Nicely done. It looks like he picked quality parts. Congratulation on your family project.

That's an AR-Bling-Bling

I'm usually not really into the more boutique type rifles but that actually looks pretty damn good.

With the openings in the upper receiver, what is keeping the gas blowback out of the face?

You can grate cheese on the barrel.

I was expecting much worse than what I saw, infact I actually quite like it, would prefer a 12-13in rail but it looks pretty damn good.

I wonder how much the cheese grater style affects the barrel harmonics and strength... honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see it banana-peel open under full auto fire.    Stress concentrations galore...
Link Posted: 7/2/2017 2:32:11 PM EST
Not a fan of bling-bling, exposed surface type rifles. Other than that, nice work ! Even I find it somewhat appealing.

Good thing it's not on a full auto lower...

2033 called, they want their AR back.

I'm just teasing.  Cool you could do that with your Brother.  And nothing wrong with helping a shooter along in his desires.  I might have been cringing in my mind the whole time.  I'm not usually overly picky but I definitely don't dig the ultra modern look for guns.  I'm so 1990.......  I called them and they won't take me back though.  So....  I'm stuck here trying to understand all this newfangled stuff.

He wanted an SBR, has a .30 can, ....... but didn't want to SBR it? Why even pick 300 in the first place then?

Can't decide if that thing is awesome it just disturbing.
