I have a DPMS lower with Bushmaster Competition trigger  set.
Spike Tactical M4 22 upper.

I have fired about 1,000 round since new.

Trigger pull deteriated and I pulled the hammer to clean the gun when I found the hammer pin broken at the J notch.
Any ideas why or how to prevent.

The break edges look almost like the pin was cast.

Stop shooting 22's
Buy lots of pins.  In your case you have a base line.  Replace the pin at a % rate you feel works. Go to next larger pin as the lower gets hammered.

This is very common.

I did a search on this topic before posting this question,  and did not get anything on it.

Would anti rotation pins work better with the .22 upper?
