I replaced a broken extractor this weekend in my AR. How do I seat the extractor spring and spring insert? I can't seem to seat it with any amount of pressure I put on the spring. Is there a trick?

I had to use needle nose pliers. Squeeze till it snaps in place. The spring can go in lop-sided, so make sure it stays square.

I just upgraded to extra power springs and went through this. I just twisted them a little clockwise with my thumb and pointer finger while pushing on them and they went in. YMMV. Regards... MM419

Insert the insert into the spring, put the large end of the spring against the recess in the extractor and squeeze it between the extractor and a hard surface such as a wooden block. It will 'pop' in and seat itself.
