I was looking through the boneyard for some stuff I could sell when I thought I may be able to build an old school AR. I have an old A1 upper and an Essential Arms lower or a PWA lower to build off of.

Do you think there is any merit? How would you configure it?

BTW, that's an Al. buttstock

Pencil barrel (16"), carbine length handguards. K.I.S.S. It'd make a nice truck gun.

For what type/ style of build?  Bushie makes a nice LW barrel which is on my above carbine.  What parts are you looking for?

That's exactly what I'm trying to find out. SBR is no problemo for me so I was thinking something short. My problem is I'm no where near "schooled" enough regarding all of the different model numbers. Any reference materials/links?

I'm very grateful for all of the help thus far and hope I can continue to get advise and have a sounding board for this project.
