Well, took a visit to the new Palmetto State Armory store in Greenville. All firearms were 10% off...so, before I knew what was happening, I was buying a stripped PSA lower and a coffee cup.

So...I wasn't REALLY planning on building another gun, but for $100 I couldn't NOT buy it.

I have a blank canvas...what would you build?

Just FYI, my other rifle is:
Spikes lower
PSA 16" madness upper
BCM bcg and charger
PSA classic lower parts kit
Carry handle w/iron sites

Send your Form 1 in now while you think on it.  SBR is a good way to go.

Dedicated .22LR. It will be the most fun gun you own.

A redundant rifle matching another rifle you already own.

Or put it in the parts bin.

Or don't finish the gun and instead buy another ACOG

Or don't finish the gun and buy a case of Ammo and go shooting more

All of these things are things I wish I did when I started amassing AR15s

Hindsight is 20/20

Dedicated lower for a 50 BMG upper. Nothing like a little extra firepower....

IMHO, everybody needs a straight-ahead back-up carbine that's reliable and "expendable" (meaning you could sell it or toss it to a neighbor just before the zombie horde washes over your 'hood). GI furniture, MBUS rear, Primary Arms MD06 on lower-third mount: no fuss, no muss, no bother.

Yea, those go to my wife and kids. I've told my neighbors, the ones I like anywho, that they should at least have a pistol in there home. A $300 shotgun is easy to fit in the budget if you want to. I have built a couple rifles for my neighbors that were serious about protecting their home any family. I have also heard some of them say that they'll just come to my house. I say not so much. Most people here think dialing 911 will save their ass, good luck with that. IMO, every man has the responsibility to be able to provide for his family, defending them is just as important as putting food on the table.

I heard that can increase the weight substantially.  If you do it, use playground chalk.

Post pictures of the coffee cup, please.

Ackchooly, I'd build out the lower with a quality trigger like Geissele SSA, and then keep it around as a mule for whatever upper I couldn't resist.......

I'm going against the grain.
Everyone has a trendy boutique AR or is building one.  I've seen so many of those guns I'm bored looking at them.

Build something long range so you can reach out and touch something.

A 6.5 Grendel or a 264 LBC.  I think? all you need is a bolt, barrel and magazines.

Every now and then someone will come into the shop showing off their AR with color filled lower. I stare blankly and admire their bliss, the same way I do when people tell me how badass their buddy's 870 is....

OP, build a 10.5" AR. The PSA CHF 10.5" barrels are GTG and have an adequately sized port for most ammo. Keep it light.

evl....
