Does anyone here know anything about Blackthorne Products AR uppers? I'm looking for a upper and the price they are selling uppers and AR kits for seem to be one the better deals out there. I'm just not sure how good they are?

http://www.blackthorneproducts.com/

A 20" A3 complete upper with everything but a stripped lower receiver is only $369

Here is one of the more complete discussions.

Be sure to read most of it and take note of the "minor problems" and see if they are something you want to deal with.

I thought I would hear something like that. Looks like I'm just going to go with Rock River.

What are your thoughts on OlyArms? My 1st AR with a OlyArms PCR-7 20" and I thought it was a great AR and shot really good. The reason I ask is because I don't see or hear about them here.

Thanks

Steven

Most folks opinion of Olypic arms is not very high here.  I have one, and it has worked flawlessly.  I may have just been lucky.

Oly arms - if its a good (pricey) one you'll be fine.

If its a cheap one, its a cheap one. And don't expect much from their customer service people.

Thanks for the help and stopping me from ordered the a upper from Blackthorne.

I traded my Glock 30 for a brand new Stag lower  with 6 pos stock and a $100 from a friend. I'm trying to keep the total cost of the AR low. I like the Rock River 16" A3 mid length.

Thanks

That doesn't sound like a super great trade to me... stag lowers are 269 or so. Your glock was used?

Don't mean to keep raining on your parade. RRA uppers are good to go. For that matter, so are Stag uppers. The actual upper receiver RRA uses is just a Stag piece with an RRA logo. They use different barrels, but both are good name brands.

What is your budget for an upper? You can get a stag chrome lined upper with an excellent rear sight for 485 or so...

Where are you finding that price, the local shop here in Jax and most of the places I've looked at them on the net are selling the stag lowers for $370 and he give me $100 with the lower. My glock was used I paid $450 for it a few months ago. He was a really close friend, not just a guy I know. I feel the trade was even.

I'm trying to get a good upper for under $500, I've looked at the stag uppers but I want a mid length upper for I think Rock River's is the one to go with. I've found a used Rock River 16" mid length upper on the EE here for $400 that I may get. I may end up saving some more cash and getting a LMT upper, everyone on here are saying they are the best on the market right now.

Thanks for the help.

Mooneysfirearms.com has them... If they are expensive in your area, then I can understand. Here, the only lowers for 370 are LMT. I do not know if even an LMT is worth 370.

Rock River is good stuff. Heavy barrels, but good quality. I'm not completely sold on whether or not LMT is worth nearly 500 bucks without a bolt/bolt carrier/charging handle.

Definitely shop around, M&A's good people, I've had great experience with mooneys and he has good prices, email him before you order.

That is the same upper I have.

That doesn't include the bolt/carrier so a complete upper would be $615.

Thanks

I'm going to get that RRA mid-length upper that is for sale in EE. $400 shipped from ar15 user 007.

Thanks for all the help and advice
