Well, I was sure I had seen a thread about Blackthorne products and service here somewhere but I can't find it. Can someone steer me in the right direction? I see that Model 1 is getting a bad rap so I'm looking for an alternate source for kits. Any thoughts?

Run like hell.

Edit: Del-Ton or PSA for kits.

Honestly... far, far away. There's plenty of reading about Blackthorne here, and google if I recall.

I've been happy with the parts and assemblies that I have bought from Del-ton. There are definitely others out there though.

OP, save yourself the headache and do not buy parts from blackthorne and the other bad companies mentioned.  Spend your money with a reputable company like the fine ones found here at ar15.com. You'll thank us later.

J&T kicks ass: good prices, good stuff, good service. Site sponsor too.

I have been trying to order a barrel from them for some time but needed to ask them about a little customization and can't get them to answer emails or phone calls so I'm about to give up!

I am a fan of Del-Ton and have had good luck with them in the past. I would go with them again except they don't offer the barrel length and profile I want this time.

Ordered from J&T twice and got both within a week (straight up orders, nothing fancy).
Only talked with them on the first order (phone ordered a complete kit), the day after the "election".
I've emailed them a couple times and gotten responses within a couple days that way.
*shrugs*

Okay. So Model 1 and Blackthorne are not good. Delton has nothing in stock and won't accept backorders. Nearly everyone else is $100-$300 more expensive, plus, and this what really lights my fire, they have insane shipping charge to go with it. I am rapidly approaching the point where I am going to get rid get rid of all my AR stuff, go back to my FALs and be done with it.

The answer to your problem is here ... Palmetto State Armory , excellent quality parts, low shipping costs, usually have more in stock than just about anywhere else.

With either one you are scraping the bottom of the barrel, IMO.
Reading the ads in Shotgun News ?

Suggest you make a new thread and post what parts you are looking for.
Members here will comment and send you to the good vendors.
