Quoted: I am new to the AR world and have just purchased my first AR, a Rock River Arms. I am told that the Black Hills Remanufactured 68gr. heavy HP would be a great round for hogs and whitetail deer. Is this correct? The range would be within 100yds.

Welcome, GlockTex:
I have a 16" RRA, and have taken 5 TX deer with it. I used Black Hills 60gr soft point remain for all. I also hear the Winchester 64 gr power point is good for hunting.
I would not hunt deer with the HP rounds, unless you like fragments of lead in your meat. Controlled expansion is better for this purpose. The HP will kill, but would not be my choice for hunting purposes. For hunting hogs, I prefer heavier-bulleted calibers such as 7mm, .30, 8mm, or larger, unless I am in a stand or something.
I DO have home-defense mags loaded with 68gr Black Hills HP.....
