I was in Cabela's today and picked up a couple of 50 rnd. boxes of blue box 55 grain MFJ for $12.50.  I've signed up for a carbine class in December and was thinking about ordering some more.  Is this ammo sufficent for using in a class?  Anyone had problems with it?  Would there be any need to step up to something heavier?

Very accurate ammo. No failures of any kind to report.

Great ammo. If I took a carbine class it would be my first choice.

I have used several diffrent grains of the blue box stuff. All very accurate and no issues with any of it.  Good stuff

It's good, but you might be able to find boxed XM193 cheaper, that's what I would want to use if I ever took a class.

Echo,

I love that stuff.  Shoots great.  I just picked up 500 rounds of it at Sportman's Warehouse in Lewisville for $10.99 a box.  They've still got some.

R.

ETA - they've also got a lot of Q3131A for $4.29 a box.  That put's the two at almost the same price per round (BH $.219/round and Q3131A $.2145).

Q3131A, XM193 and BH blue box are all great ammo but I would take the blue box. It;s the most accurate of the 3 and just as reliable.

Thanks-

That's a great price on the Blackhills.  Cabela's is $68.99 for six boxes ($0.2299/round).

I've used some older Black Hills blue box & had multiple split case necks on firing. That put me off of BH for a long time but I'm coming back & trying some of the recent production.

That being said I've been getting new Win Q loads for $4.07/bx. and American Eagle for $3.79/bx.
