I'm trying to select the optimum round for my 16"-barreled (chrome-lined, mid length RRA, 1 in 9") carbine. It seems to love the black hills 68 grain heavy BTHP's from an accuracy and function standpoint.

My question to the experts is: what is the maximum range this ammo will reliably fragment at when fired from a 16" barrel?

At what range is the terminal ballistics of this round no longer optimal? I imagine there is some controlled expansion beyond the fragmentation range.

Any other ammo suggestions for good accuracy/reliable performance from a 16" 1 in 9 barrel?

Thanks!

What about the black hills 60 GR V-max? Why doesn't someone make a 62-grain boat-tailed V-max? I think that would have a lot of potential... Any thoughts on sintered core bullets?

Looks like I'll stick to the 68 gr. OTM...
