My brother lives in Washington State, He has asked me "the gun nut" for an ar-15 for his birthday, I live in California and the last time I looked at buying one was back in 1995 when they became illegal, I looked online for information and am not finding what I need. I would like to spend around $1000 for a quality gun. So what is out there? I want something in a M4A3 configuration. Who are the quality manufactures? What models are the best? Lets start here. Thank you guys

in the 1000 range you can get a nice bushmaster.
or spend less and get a nice AR from someone else.

Hell, I think for about $800-$850 you can get a nice new Bushmaster or RRA... Both are quality guns...

I like Bushmaster, RRA, DPMS, Eagle Arms, Armalite, Colt... they are all good!

More of a carbine, I think its really up to me, But I think in the coming years I would like to get him a long range upper.

Check out www.eaglefirearms .net.

They have a special running for a complete RRA (no-ban) Entry Tactical Rifle for $719. This model even has a chrome lined barrel, M-4 16" light barrel profile, and a two stage trigger. You will have to buy a rear flip up site, removable carry handle, or a red dot site (I'd suggest the Trijicon Reflex II) but that's about it. You really can't get a better deal.
