Forged. I'm a traditional kind of guy.

Get both.

Why? Because it's what ARFCOM told me to do.

Good answers!

Forged is stronger.

Does it probably matter in a lower? Probably not.

Billet tend to look neat.

I care little about looks.

Forged vs billet which is stronger is subjective. Billet has more material in certain areas vs forged that the metal is slightly stronger. Does it matter like previous poster said NOPE

Billet is slightly heavier than forged in most cases. Billet cost more.
Buy the one that you want and do not worry about it one bit.

I wouldn't take billet at half the price.

I laugh at folks that pay MORE for it.

I prefer forged from manufacturers known to do good work.
I don’t see any functional advantage to billet.

It is pretty.
LaRue only makes billet lowers. I would take a LaRue rifle no questions asked.

actually...there CAN BE a functional advantage. some of the billet lowers are done with better controls (right handed bolt releases and/or fully ambidextrous controls). many billet lowers have flared mag wells (more so than a forged) if you consider that a functional advantage too.

all mine are forged. i have no desire to pay 3-4x as much money for a billet lower when a forged lower is lighter, stronger, and cheaper.

Billet uppers and lowers can be purchased as matched sets that mate perfectly.

I would not purchase only a billet lower. Im not sure what the point would be.

I guess a more correct statement is I don’t see any functional advantages for my purposes.
I can readily see that some features you mentioned would be appealing to some people.

I agree with most, I prefer forged. But again, like most billet is nice to look at especially with the out of box non-traditional sculptures.

Get a Noveske Gen2 and get the strength of forged and the look of billet!
