I'm currently planning six future AR builds and was looking to use billet uppers and lowers. I've searched the internet and found a couple of options for lowers like Larue, POF, Daniel Defense and Sundevil. Are there any other options for lowers? Also, what are my options for billet uppers outside of Larue?

I considered just buying all Larue uppers and lowers, but I would like some variety.Plus, if I can get an equally quality product that will produce an accurate and reliable build for a few dollars more, it will allow me to put money towards other projects. My essential needs are accuracey, dependability and customer service in the event of issues.

I built mine on Black Rain Ordnance upper and lower. I really like the clean lines.

Mega Arms makes some VERY nice billet uppers & lowers

They have monolithic quad rail and smooth uppers.

How does it stack up in terms of accuracey and reliability?

Billet does nothing for accuracy. Also, I wasn't aware that DD was producing billet receivers.

Billet uppers & lowers do not really add to accuracy. They are machined with extreme precision so I suppose that would aid in "reliability".

Many say that due to the precision machining, the upper wouldn't need lapped prior to installing the barrel (which some do to aid in barrel accuracy).

Some of my favorite:

1. Spikes
2. Magpul/Arfcom
3. Mega
4. Seekins
5. Hera Arms (not available in the US yet)

Here's one for $148.95 and free shipping.

The main point of billet lowers is to be able to do things you can't typically do with a forging. Enlarged mag wells, ambi controls, integral trigger guards, etc. Mega, AR15.com, and Seekins all have some very nice lowers.

+1 to billet doing nothing for accuracy or reliability.

Black Rain Ordnance makes a sick billet set. Pricey, but worth it.
OP, out of curiosity why are you strictly using billet sets?

Look at Spikes, and the Seekins.

I've been really impressed with the Rainier Arms Billet UltraMatch upper. Liked the first one so much that I ordered a second. Damn fine stripped upper.

DDLES makes very nice, but a little pricey billet lowers.

VLTOR makes the best billet uppers period.

Vltor has been using forgings for their uppers for several years now.

Suscribed for future build research!

Anyone else have any experience with quentin-Laser? they have a very good price point.

Black Rain's CS is pretty good too. My upper had a machining issue and they took care of it right away. They also asked if I wanted my lower updated. I sent them both back and got a new upper and a tension screw added to my lower, to eliminate any wobble between receivers, at no charge. Very good to deal with.

JP Enterprises has a very nice billet upper with a side charger. This works wonders when you have a large scope that obstructs the upper top side charger.

Another Black Rain Ord. user. Cost more than others, but the halves go together like a bank vault and the machineing is flawless.
