Is there in good (maybe field-proven) way to carry a couple 552 batteries in the pistol grip?

There should be an actual factory part-- that would be very useful.

Field expedient:  100 mph tape them in there with some bubble wrap to keep the rattle down.

 OR

Tango-Down Battle grip.  I've got one I'll sell you by the way.  I have big hands and this grip is too small for me.

The old school method of retaing parts or whatever in the pistol grip is go to a local gun show and pick up an M3 grease gun mag dust cover. They run cheap and can be found with most surlus parts dealers. It is rubber and will fit tightly onto the open part of your pistol grip. Pretty water proof too as it slips over the outside of the PG. The tab can be put in either front or back, your preference.

Lone Star trap door pistol grip works pretty well.  Bushmaster sells a version of it.

How about an ergonomically fit water tight compartment grip call TandoDown Battel grip.

I personally change all my grips to Battlegrip.
