I want a medium distance sight like 50 - 300 yards. ACOG? Leupold? the canadian one?

I also want a CQB sight for it. I want to try out Tactical rifle competition. Trijicon? Aimpoint? EOTech? any others I am forgetting?

You tell me. I have a post ban M4gery flattop. Also which of these works well with a flip up rear iron sight, and will the standard front sight post interfere with any of these? Thanks for the help guys.

My reccomendation is a Trijicon ACOG TA11 in an ARMS 19A mount with an ARMS 40 std A2 rear sight. It will be the best "all around" set up if you are looking for a combo CQB/300yard sight.

Best price I have found is $840+150+95=$1085 for the complete set up.

You could also use a TA31 and ARMS 19A mount with the regular (cut aperature) ARMS 40 if you wanted a bit more magnification because you are doing more 100+ yd shooting and dont mind the shorter eye relief.

If cost is an issue check out the 2X and 3X compact ACOGS.

If you go with seperate long range and CQB optics you will spend more money and it will be slow to switch between them. If you use 2 optics together like the Dr Optics on top of a TA01 you will spen WAY more money and still have a sight that is no faster than a TA31 or TA11.

I've used both 2x ACOG and Leupold CQT in 3 gun matches, and I liked the CQT much better. 50 yards or less, the 1x CQT is hard to beat. At 100 or more, the 3x power gives me a boost since my eyes are not as sharp at long distance. Both cost about the same price.

In real combat situation (SHTF for us civies), I don't think you'll be taking the time to play with the power adjustment on the Leupold.

I haven't shot 3 gun matches, but I have shot the pop-up plastic men on the $17 million military ranges, and the compact ACOG 3x was outstanding. My first time out I scored my highest scores ever, coming in 2nd place. 25m to 500m targets.

I bought a USO SN-4 for a intermediate distance sight, and believe that it is the best available. That being said, the best sight from 0-300 yards is an Aimpoint. I shoot CQB/tactical/3-gun matches also, and the difference is speed.

For QCB only I'd say the Aimpoint M2.

For 'Medium' distance (in the 200-400) yard range, and best over all scope for use as a 'weapon' (vs a varmint shooter) I'd say the Compact Trijicon 3x with Red Triangular Reticule. It works from 25M (BAC) to 500M as F4YR indicated.

Not cheap - but it will do it all.

I recently ran a tactical course (a little bit adjusted for me since I can only hobble as I'm recovering from knee surgery) with a 16" bushmaster topped with a compact ACOG 3x24 with the amber crosshair.

I have never in my life experienced better results (marksmanship wise, my hobbling wasn't real impressive) for snap shots from contact - 200 meters. 5" groups and under at 200 meters with unsupported prone, slow measured shots, was no issue at all. Snap headshots at 5, 10 and 25 meters under extreme time pressure, also no issue.

I have shot through ACOGs before, but not this particular variety.

It bears my highest recommendation, that is to say it sits atop my current defensive rifle.
