Don't bet your life on chicom products.  The "230 lumen" on ebay is a chinese LED module.

Spend the extra money and get a Malkoff M60 drop-in for a G2.

I really like Cabela's XPG lights, many on here dont because they are not tacticool enough, but they have worked great for me and the price is better.

The mount will probably be a piece, too.

Yeah, it is such a "complicated" item to manufacture.
Oh well, it will be mounted on my LaRue 10.0 with Troy HK Battle Sight to back up my EoTech 512.  Guess I just have a gut feeling this "piece" light set up will work.  I will just have to wait and see.  It will be either a damn good deal or, oh well, lesson learned.

It has nothing to do with how "difficult" it is to manufacture.

I see negative feedback in some ebay sellers future...

J/K, I hope it works out for you.  I always stick to the "buy once, cry once" philosophy

Do you have anything to compare it to? WIthout having compared it to a Malkoff M60 or the like, how will you know? I see plenty of people who are amazed by LED drop-ins in the mid 100-lumen arena who would be utterly flabbergasted if they saw a M60 in action. I have even converted a few of them over

I have an Insight H2X Arcturus that we compared to the Gladius at night time quals.  My Insight was just as bright if not brighter than the Gladius, so if it is anything near to that I will be happy.

What's the cheapest way to buy a G2 (or similar) and a Malkoff drop-in?  Any combos anywhere?

What's the practical difference between the incadesent G2 and the G2LED? The regular is less an 40 bucks and some say incandesent throws better. Is the LED worth the extra, I hope I don't have to use it that much.

I would get whichever one suited you and buy a Malkoff unit. It will out-throw, out-spill, out blind either of them. 80 lumens is 80 lumens, the incan is just in a different color of the spectrum which seems to cut fog/smoke a little better and throw a hair farther out-doors with regaurd to not "greying out". The whiter LED's have less of a problem wiht this than the stock SF LED units in the 6P, but the "Warm" LED's like 5AQ3's are literally almost in the same color spectrul as incan, although they give up a hair of brightness over the more efficient Q5 and R2's.

I think I will get a cheap G2 now and throw a Malkoff on it later. I like the better run time of the LED's but it shouldn't be an issue on a dedicated weapon light. I have a fenix LED i carry everyday but I think I want something better on the rifle.  Thanks.

Hrmmm, I would argue that the 6P would be a superior buy for just a few $$ more. It will heat-sink better. See what the $$ difference is.

6P runs closer to 60 and the LED is 90. Maybe its worth it if its a better platform to upgrade.

There's a big gun show this weekend, if I can score a G2 for cheap I'll go that route and if I'm not happy I'm not going to be out much. The FF rail I need is back ordered for a few weeks anyway so no hurry.

I really think you can get a better deal on a 6P than that. Someone on here bought the LED for $66 off E-bay a few days ago. Don't pay MSRP.

G2LED has a metal bezel for better heat disspation.  A G2 incan has a plastic bezel.  Any hotrod LED module is gonna die from cooking itself in the G2 incan.

G2LED is great.  The chicom bulbs are REALLY bright, but for something that my safety depended on, it would be stock SF or Malkoff.

Okay,
The G2 Led I ordered 2 days ago came in today!
It has the metal bezel/head not plastic.  I threw it into a utg mount i had.  I gotta say, for $59 I am extemely pleased.  When it gets dark Ill compare it to my H2X, so far it seems as bright with a nice beam spread.

Allright guys,
Here is my ebay 59 dollar Surefire G2 led compared to my Insight H2X.
H2X (120 lumen) on left, G2 on right (apx 20' distance):

The Surefire G2 from what I know is probably putting out an honest 80 lumens, give or take a few. I have no clue what the H2X is actually putting out, but if it is close to an honest 120 lumens, at this level, we would need more than a white-wall photo to tell the difference. At near 200 lumens, I can only begin to BARELY see a difference outside at long distance when 20 lumens difference is reached. Then I am iffy on it.
